Summer Opportunities

Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity to spend your summer gaining valuable skills while giving back to the community? PAIR is seeking interested, qualified individuals for our summer activities. Summer Program Manager* (full-time, paid position)

*ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program Position
Dates: Monday, June 4 - Friday, July 27, 2012

Collaborate with PAIR executive director, program managers, and volunteers to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate an educational summer program for refugee youth ages 11-14 which cultivates English language skills and fosters community immersion among participants. Suitable for those who wish to gain practical experience building partnerships with community organizations, developing educational programming, conducting grassroots outreach, working directly with at-risk youth, and expanding the impact of a young non-profit organization. Requires an understanding of or willingness to learn about the refugee experience and PAIR's mission and programs, an interest in working with young people, strong leadership abilities, a can-do positive attitude, a caring demeanor, and a passion for making a difference.

PAIR Summer Program Counselor (part-time, volunteer position)
Dates: Monday, June 18 - Friday, July 20, 2012
(total of 5 weeks, 3 days per week, approx. 4-5 hours per day)

Lead a group of refugee youth in interactive English lessons, skill building, group discussions and activities, and field trips. Promote good behavior, safety, learning, fun, socialization, and multicultural development. Provide feedback on activities and the youth throughout the program to maximize the impact on our students. Will gain experience working directly with at-risk, multicultural youth, and leading educational and social activities.

Summer Project Intern (part-time, volunteer position)
Work on projects for PAIR's office. Project time requirements and duration will vary. Project examples include:
  • Data entry, organizing, and maintaining records
  • Organizing curriculum
  • Other administrative projects
